ACMA's "ASLI-NAQLI" SHOW: OCTOBER 29-31, 1999

ACMA participated
a 2nd time, with a 40 sq. mtr ASLINAQLI Stand
at the North India Auto Show in Chandigarh. The
Exhibition, in the Parade Ground of Sector 17,
was organised by CII (NR)- backed by ACMA and
SIAM. The consumer - education campaign against
counterfeit auto parts mounted by ACMA was supported
by participants Gabriel India Ltd, GKN Invel Transmissions
Ltd. Lucas - TVS Ltd, MICO, Purolator India Ltd,
Shriram Pistons and Rings Ltd, Sundaram Brake
Linings Ltd, displaying genuine and spurious products
with relevant packaging.

to the U.T. Administrator inaugurated the Show on
29th October 1999. Showing interest in the campaign.
Ms Rai took time to understand the problems of genuine
product manufacturers. Another important visitor
was the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr Vir
Bhadra Singh who congratulated ACMA for its efforts
in fighting this ever increasing cancer.

WORKSHOP ON EXPORT MARKETING OF AUTO COMPONENTS
TO THE EU:
11 & 12 NOVEMBER, 1999
For the first time ACMA in coordination
with The Centrum tot Bevordering van de Import uit ontwikkelingslanden
(CBI), organised a two-day workshop in India on "Export
Marketing of Auto Components to the EU" at Hotel
Taj Mahal, Mansingh Road, New Delhi. The objective ?
- to apprise Executives of Marketing and Export Divisions,
on trade structures and practices in Europe.
Mr Ernst Noorman, the Netherlands Embassy, commercial
section, attended the first day.
Mr. Dick J. DeMan, Mr. Hans Verhulst
and Mr. Henk Bulder, three Experts from the Netherlands,
conducted the workshop, making presentations on: (a)
Market Segmentation & Industrial Marketing (b) Product
& Technical Information (c) Costing & Pricing
(d) Partner Selection & Distribution Channels (e)
E. U Rules & Regulations for Import (f) Quality
Control Department (g) S.W. O.T Analysis (h) Terms of
Delivery & Payment (i) Product Testing Norms (j)
Standards & Export Strategy.
Mr D K Jain, Past President ACMA and
Chairman ACMA Export Committee, pleased that ACMA and
CBI were working towards a more focused and integrated
export marketing project, said the CBI was an unique
trade promotion organisation, promoting imports from
developing countries into the Netherlands and ACMA would
be delighted with a long term partnership.
Speaking of rapid transformation in
European automotive industry and its supply structure,
Mr Jain said that with the OEM supplier relations changing
in Europe, vehicle makers were 're-thinking' sourcing
practices. New opportunities were emerging in exports
for vehicle makers, supplies to tier-1 vendors and the
European after-market. It was important for Indian component
makers to understand the challenges "Reverse Engineering"
traditionally the R&D of the Indian component sector
could not infringe on copyrights and patents of other
vehicle or components manufacturers. The auto component
sector could become volume exporters and emerge key
earners of the Indian economy provided companies focussed
on Exports through quality, long term strategy, delivery
and commitment.
In conclusion, Mr Jain urged, members
to consider participating in CBI programmes in India
and Rotterdam. The workshop was a success with 32 representative
of 28 companies attending.
