NATIONAL ACTIVITY

IRAN EXHIBITION : JUNE 25-29, 2001

The ACMA CEO's mission to Iran, generated a lot of interest in both the Iranian and the Indian automotive industry.

Close on the heels of this Mission, ACMA organised its first ever participation in the Tehran International Auto Fair.

ACMA Stand & Exhibitors

Held in the well-equipped "Permanent Exhibition Ground" in Tehran, and organised by the Industrial Development and Renovation Organisation (DRO), the fair showcased the strength of the Iranian automobile and auto component industry, about 690 Iranian and International companies participated.

ACMA projected a joint stand participation with six companies displaying their products - Amul Industries Pvt. Ltd., Clutch Auto Ltd., Indication Instruments Ltd., Mutual Mecaplast Ltd., Rane Engine Valves Ltd., Shriram Pistons & Rings Ltd. ACMA also displayed member company catalogues and provided a professional interpreter to assist the Exhibitors. The Association's information Booth had over 35 visitors with specific enquiries including sourcing of parts and mutual co-operation in the area of manufacturing and export. These enquiries were disseminated to the product catalogue Exhibitors by the ACMA Representative, on his return.

The Indian stand evoked great interest in the Iranian automotive and after-market sectors and many Iranian OEMs and Tier-1 companies visited the stand. The Indian Ambassador, Mr. P.S. Hear along with Mr. O.P. Rakwal, Counsellor (E&C) and officials of the Indian Embassy, came to the ACMA Stand and spent over an hour with the Exhibitors. The Ambassador of Pakistan was invited to visit the stand which he did, showing a keen interest in the Indian participation.

ACMA also promoted its major forthcoming event Auto Expo 2002. There is every likelihood that IAPMA and IDRO will organise a joint exhibition of Iranian component manufacturers, as well as, bring an automotive delegation to the AUTO EXPO 2002.

VISIT TO REVA

"Reva" is the outcome of a long cherished dream of Mr. S K Maini, Chairman of the Maini Group.

For over thirty years the thought of a small, affordable city car has kept him reviewing designs with several eminent designers

The idea of an electric car was conceived by the Group in 1990, & Mr Chetan Maini studying in USA joined and led the Solar Car Team that won the GM Sun Race coming in third at the World Solar Challenges, in Australia. This concept has given a new beginning for cars like "Reva: which is India's first electric and "zero pollution" vehicle.
