| THE 39th ACMA ANNUAL SESSION
|

|
6th
of September 1999, the last of the Annual General
Meetings to be held in the 20th Century, was in
Pune, by decision of the Executive Committee Members
of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association
of India (ACMA).
The least that may be said, of
the final ACMA AGM of this millennium, is, that
it was a resounding success in terms of participating
delegates, attending OEMs and Invitees - the auditorium
with fixed 504 seats, increased to 530 with extra
chairs, was not only packed to capacity but embarrassingly
though satisfyingly, overflowing into doorways
and alcoves !

There is immense pride, as the Association
notes the participation of an unprecedented number of
its Past Presidents : Mr S Muthukrishnan, Mr Abhay Firodia,
Mr Pran Talwar, Mr L Lakshman, Mr Amar Singh, Mr T K
Balaji, Dr Surinder Kapur, Mr S Viji, Mr D K Jain and
Mr K Mahesh
| ACMA would like to
thank Mr Ratan N Tata, Chairman TELCO, in appreciation
of the time given to the Association in his capacity
as Chief Guest, as well as, the two eminent Speakers,

their views on the automotive industry. |

For the Secretariat Staff, the 39th
National Conference held in the auditorium of the prestigious
IUCAA, was an interesting experience. For the first
time, ACMA Staff was working in an environment without
the strong infrastructural support of an ACMA office,
be it in Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai. It was a challenge
which the Secretariat met quietly and achieved (despite
some unexpected speed-breakers) with the helping hand
of the President's office, and completed on time the
necessary structure for the Conference, including the
well placed signs which led guests and delegates, unerringly,
through the charming grounds of IUCCA.
We are pleased to present excerpts from ACMA President's
speech and the addresses of three very eminent persons.
