ACMA- JETRO SUPPORTING INDUSTRY
PROGRAMME - PHASE-II
FORGING EXPERT'S VISIT TO NORTHERN REGION COMPANIES,
4-18 MARCH 2001, NEW DELHI
ACMA & JETRO have been working in tandem, since
1998, on implementing the "Supporting Industry
Programme" Earlier issues, covered this activity
from time to time. The first phase of the Forgings and
Castings Technical Assistance programme, now successfully
implemented, short-listed Companies Amtek Auto, Best
Metals, GNA, Hi- Tech Gears, and Kay Jay Forgings which
have benefited through plant visits of Technical Experts,
in the respective fields, and received their valuable
inputs. The Study Mission was a further plus point,
sponsored by JETRO in September 2000, when personnel
from the Companies went to study the various aspects
of Forging and Casting, as well as, get first hand knowledge
of shop - floor practices in Japan.
The conclusion of the programme came
with Phase II which brought Mr. K. Nansai, one of the
best in the line of Forgings, to India, Nansai san,
visited the selected companies between 4-18 March 2001
and advised on how best to implement the new techniques
observed in the course of the Study Mission.

Nansai san, Guru of Forging techniques,
whose expertise and knowledge must be sought by all
in this specific sector, made his presentation at the
programme organised by ACMA (NR), for forging manufacturers
members & non- members alike.
Nansai san's presentation zoned in
on "Some Success & Failure Experiences at Forging
Operations" which dealt with Hot Die Forgings including
technical problems and solutions; Pre-heating of Die
and the improvement of Die Life; Direct Quenching and
its features and the future of the Forging Industry.
