PROGRAMME ON CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT TOOLS:5TH MAY 2001 ROHTAK

Rohtak, a first time host to an ACMA programme, jumped straight into the centre of ACMA’s workplan with organising of "Continuous Improvement Tools".

Welcoming participants and speakers, Mr Lalit Jain, Zonal Coordinator Rohtak Region, thanked Mr Ashok Taneja for joining the programme. He stressed the fact that it was the first such programme to be organised in Rohtak and hoped that the trend would continue. Mr Jain briefed participants on ACMA and its activities.


Mr Ashok Taneja, Sr Executive Director Shriram Pistons & Rings Ltd, shared his experiences and, in particular, spoke of "Creating Excellence through Training". To stress this point, Mr Taneja, spoke of the occasion of Shriram Jayanthi celebrated in the Company’s factory grounds where more than 10,000 people, comprising staff and family, gathered to celebrate this annual event. Remarkable, was the cleanliness of the grounds after the celebration had ended.

He emphasised, "it is do-able in India to create Excellence with an Indian mind-set".

POINTS FOR SUCCESS & SURVIVAL
  • necessary to change image of our country as also the image of our companies
  • success of survival depends on Good Product, Quality Processes, Investment in R&D and Cost Effectiveness
  • Target price given by OEMs- therefore need to change strategies from earlier system of Cost+ Profit as well as implement Best Practices for own survival

More than 55 participants were present of which approximately 40 were from in and around Rohtak.

PRESENTATION BY SIAM ON EMISSION WARRANTY ON VEHICLES:
9 MAY 2001 NEW DELHI

SIAM made a Presentation on Emission Warranty on Vehicles and its Implications. 12 member companies along with Vehicle manufacturers, Participated at the seminar organised at the CII Head Office.

Effective 1st July 2001, Vehicle manufacturers have decided to give an Emission Warranty along with the sale of all new vehicles.

The Presentation made was generic in nature. Individual companies are to contact the Vehicle manufacturers individually for implementation / methodology.
